Location: Cremorne, Melbourne, Australia
Client / Partner: National Basketball League (NBL); LK Property Group

Brief

When the National Basketball League (NBL) relocated its headquarters to Cremorne, Melbourne, they wanted a landmark sports mural that would celebrate the game’s most influential icons.

The mural needed to:

  • Honour Australian basketball legends Andrew Gaze and Lauren Jackson

  • Establish the NBL’s new headquarters as a cultural and sporting landmark in Melbourne

  • Deliver a large-scale public artwork that would inspire fans and reflect the legacy of basketball in Australia

Our Approach

  • Juddy Roller collaborated with the NBL and LK Property Group to curate and produce a world-class sports mural.

  • Artist Collaboration – Engaged world-leading mural artist Smug to create a large-scale portrait with precision and impact.

  • Cultural Relevance – Ensured the mural design aligned with the NBL brand and Melbourne’s reputation as Australia’s sporting capital.

  • High Visibility – Positioned the artwork on a prominent facade to maximise public engagement and media reach.

  • Turnkey Delivery – Managed wall preparation, production, and installation with safety and quality at the forefront.

The Outcome

  • The finished mural transformed the NBL headquarters into an iconic destination for basketball fans and the Melbourne community.

  • Cemented the Cremorne site as a public art landmark for Australian basketball

  • Elevated the NBL brand through an authentic celebration of sporting heritage

  • Attracted national media attention and became one of Australia’s most recognisable sports-inspired murals.

Recognition & Awards

  • Featured across Fox Sports, Channel 9, and The Age

  • Widely shared by fans, athletes, and the basketball community on social media

  • Recognised as one of Australia’s most important basketball murals and a cultural highlight in Cremorne

“Juddy Roller’s deep understanding of large-scale public art, combined with their ability to navigate complex stakeholder requirements, make them the definitive choice for developers and architects seeking to integrate world-class art into their projects.”
